Built for Law Firms, by People Who Understand Them
WhartonBrein is a software development firm based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We work exclusively with US law firms to automate the workflows that slow them down.
Pedro Wharton
Pedro started WhartonBrein in 2022 after years in software development that included projects for legal industry clients. What he kept seeing was the same pattern: law firms running on manual processes that no one had taken the time to automate — not because the technology was hard, but because most developers didn't understand legal workflows well enough to build tools that actually fit them.
He founded WhartonBrein as a focused alternative: a small team that would learn how law firms work before writing a single line of code. The early projects — intake systems for an immigration firm, a document assembly tool for an estate planning practice — confirmed the model. Clients weren't just satisfied; they were referring peers.
Three years later, Pedro still leads every engagement personally. He runs the discovery calls, writes the proposals, and stays involved through delivery. That's not a marketing line — it's how WhartonBrein operates. The people building your software are the same people who talked to you first.

WhartonBrein's core team is four people: two software developers, a UX designer who has worked on legal-facing products, and a legal process analyst who maps firm workflows before any technical work begins. For larger projects, we bring in trusted contractors who have worked with us before — specialists in areas like API integrations, QA testing, and database architecture.
What we don't do is scale up headcount to take on more projects at once. Every client gets focused attention. We typically run two to three active projects at a time, which means your project doesn't compete for the team's bandwidth.
The team operates primarily in Buenos Aires time (UTC-3), with overlap into US East Coast and Central business hours for daily standups, demos, and review sessions. Most of our clients find the communication cadence comparable to working with a domestic vendor.
Our Values in Practice
These aren't aspirational statements. They describe how we actually run every engagement.
NDA-First
We sign a mutual NDA before you share anything about your firm, your clients, or your workflows. Client confidentiality is a professional obligation for attorneys — it's a design principle for us.
Legal Focus Only
We don't build e-commerce sites or marketing apps. Every project we take is for a law firm or a legal-adjacent organization. That specialization means we bring context you don't have to provide.
Nearshore Transparency
Buenos Aires isn't a cost-cutting secret — it's a structural advantage. Senior developers, US-hour availability, and significantly lower rates than comparable domestic firms. We're transparent about how our pricing works.
Fixed Scope, Fixed Price
We don't bill by the hour. After discovery, you receive a proposal with a fixed price for a fixed scope. If the scope changes, we talk about it before any work changes — not after you see the invoice.
Interested in working together?
We take on a small number of new engagements per quarter. If you're a US law firm looking to automate intake or document workflows, reach out to start the conversation.
